Funeral of a Dead Tongue

You sit upon my lap and whisper in my ears your desires, your struggles, your fantasies
But I can't shake you from my lap
For you planted your roots into my thighs
And tied your tongue around my ear

And that is all you stay for
My ears

Not in the way they look, but in how they treat you
They smile and nod and question why
They display compassion

Your tongue seduces my ears
It playfully spits words in any syntax
In result my tongue dances behind my teeth
But that is all it will ever do

Your ears are gated shut
And for that my tongue will shrivel and soon die
