Autumn

Now all is safely gathered in for store,

To last the Winter long season.

The wildlife to's and fro's for more.

And often looks without any reason.

Many to sow their seeds in vain,

To a variety of wildlife's glee.

Their harvests this year, runined again!

Wildlife gorge themselves to gluttony.

But feast to a thankfull harvest;

A banquet, to make merry this, fall.

Salute the fortunate and yet bravest,

Those with knowledge of land's call.

Deceptive; so frugal, so abundant!

All lay in slumber and so redundant.

Another good one

At my age, I am beginning to suspect that Autumn is my favorite season, and you have caputred its essence very succinctly in this poem.  Are you familiar with Walace Stevens' autumn poems?

On Stevens

Yes, American, probbly the greatest American poet of the 20th century.  His poetry makes you work hard when you first approach it, but he pays you back for the effort.  He has been payng me back since 1978, and I cannot imagine my life without his poems.
