There was a time when I would have sacrificed anything - given you anything.
A moment once existed, when I would have given you my world.
There used to be a day, I’d have laid down my life for you – I would have died for you!
A faded past, when I used to look at you with pride.
I observe you now from a distance – I can only talk to you within.
I see you in ways previously unimaginable, but now so vivid.
The scars on your face have grown deeper and far more ugly.
You appear to me as a specter now – a rotted human shell.
Your twisted smile makes me shiver.
Your tired eyes have lost their shimmer.
The hair upon your head looks coarse now – It used to be so silky smooth.
And although your skin is not transparent, my eyes now see right through.
My eyes now parched – forget not each salty tear they shed.
For you have lost yourself in their ocean.
You have drown in their ocean – died in their salty sorrow
And in your mouth have tasted their bitterness.
What have I now? – Your resurrected corpse teeters on my doorstep!
Some creature of heaven or hell has given you strength to stand again.
Or is it you anymore, that appears before my eyes…
For the sweet aroma that used to follow you now takes its leave.
An air of dread and anguish, smothers and chokes my life
And your eyes, though the same color, tell not the same story
Powerful.
"My eyes now parched – forget not each salty tear they shed.
For you have lost yourself in their ocean.
You have drown in their ocean – died in their salty sorrow
And in your mouth have tasted their bitterness."
The weight of these words; your bitter ocean; crashed into me.
So .. potent.
What a wonderful write about a lugubrious love.
She may be teetering on your doorstep,
but just know that she is unsteady,
and all things that are unsteady will eventually fall.<3
