You command an army,
yet you can't command me.
You and your little patches.
The worst of a character.
Its a shame that in honor
there are lies.
Hope you go back to
that desert of hell.
And bring back the innocence
that you helped bury
along with your soldiers.
You think that uniform
will save you?
Not from me.
I believed in your loyalty.
Now it's loyalty
that I will help bomb.
You think you
look important,
what's important is
what I think.
What I believe now
is far worse than what
you think.
You talk about putting
my hand over my heart,
I'll put it in my
pocket.
Code of honor.
I say, code of bullshit.
Take that uniform
and sell your lies
to someone else
who'll believe in
the red, white, and blue
and you.
Note: I know I might get a lot of heat about this. THIS IS NOT DIRECTED TO THE MILITARY IN GENERAL. However, whatever opinions you may have, this poem will stay posted.
Just so happens I'm in the army and i'll be going to iraq in september, not sure who your pushin in the poem though powerful, try and remember the men and women that serve our country and the sacrafice we're willing to make wether or not your beleive in the war or not, we have a job to do. But powerful writing your have so much talent, maybe you could direct it towards a positive side of things.
beautiful poem, im glad to hear that its not pointed towards the military in general,
You convey a lot of strong feelings with this. You do a good job with the internal contrasts. I think it would be interresting to hear the story behind this poem.
