So I went on an Adventure...

Met up with you for

Breakfast this morning

And you asked if I had Plans.

I said not really,

I would probably go down

To the pawn shop later,

I wanted to look for

A new guitar.

Your girlfriend's smile

Lit up the whole cafe.

She then proclaimed that

You both would go with me,

It would be an adventure.

I sat, still and

Somewhat stunned,

A strange mix

Of hesitant and hopeful.

You caught my eye

While levering a forkful

Of flapjacks to your face

And winked, so I relaxed.

(I like her, you know.

She's nice.

You deserve someone

Sweet and a little sassy.)

(She's definitely classy.)

(I want her to like me.

I am constantly worrying

About accidentally causing

A rift between you two,

Because of the depth

Of the relationship

Between us.)

(Silly,

I know.

You're fine.)

So we piled into her car

And drove downtown,

Past the malls and

Cement walls that one

Typically finds in

Built up urban areas.

We got a little lost

Somewhere along the way.

Thankfully your phone

Is capable of searching

Google maps.

Much to my embarrassment.

(It would have been easier to let me drive.)

(You're blind in one eye.)

(And your point is?)

(Nevermind.)

We rolled up and parked,

Strolled in, and I fell

In love

With every single

Guitar I saw.

Thankfully

You were there to tell me

Which ones were cheaters.

You picked one up while

We girls wandered around,

I strummed all the guitars

To find the perfect sound.

None quite fit

And I was ready

To quit

When you tapped my shoulder

And said

"Try this one."

It was love at first strum,

Playing it was incredibly fun.

It came to life in my hands

As I leaned over it,

Face hidden behind silken strands

Of hair.

I honestly didn't notice

That it was there until

Your girlfriend tucked a lock

Behind my ear

As I was playing.

When I looked up in shock

She grinned.

"I think she likes that one."

So I bought it.

Sitting here at home now

Thinking back on the day,

Struggling to think of

Something to say

That would adequately express

How happy I am.

I think I'll just

Write a poem

And play my

New guitar.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is more a recounting of my day than actual poetry, I feel, but it's on the brain, so here it goes.
