Faith

Testimony For My Homegoing

[inspired by that old tombstone in Kentucky]

Whether I get the call by night or day,

I pray it finds me trusting Christ.  I say

that, needing Him for every taken breath,

since He has saved me (back in '94),

I shall need Him the more-so at my death . . .

AND HE WILL BE THERE . . . as forevermore;

there, for me (as this body meets demise),

to welcome me into His Paradise.

I do not merit that, but have received

His promise to all those who have believed.

The flesh may falter, fooled by sin's deceiving;

but my soul will depart, surely believing

on Jesus has been my sole Salvation,

so He shall be my final destination.

We die as we lived; then, having passed, we live as we died.  Part of the joy of living in Christian faith is being prepared to die in it.

While We Wait For Our *Permanent* Vacation

When spring and summer come, after the winter melts away,
we make our plans with great anticipation.
We know just where we want to go, and what we want to do,
and who we want to visit on vacation.

And as the time grows nearer, we begin to feel a joy
that takes away our daily aggravation.
Even the hardest job, the dullest chore, is kind of fun
when you are soon to go on a vacation.

You always find a lot to talk about before you go:
some how it gets into each conversation,
until your family, friends, and all the folks down at your work
know you are getting ready for vacation.

Nor do you mind the many little things you have to do
because you need to make some preparation
for travel.  So you pack, then run some errands, and pack more
so that you can enjoy your whole vacation.

Sometimes you even dream about it as you sleep at night.
Sometimes it interrupts your concentration
during the day, and then you feel excitement in your heart
as you look forward to a nice vacation.

Yes, it can change your attitude about your daily life.
It gives you peace of mind and relaxation
even before you leave.  The joy is overwhelming as
the days and nights get closer to vacation.

As Christians, we know how this feels, because we have a hope
(according to the Gospel's inspiration)
that we call RAPTURE (when the Lord returns to take His Church
to Heaven for a permanent vacation).

We will not have to bring belongings, clothes, or other stuff
to go. You only need to have Salvation
in Christ, to be included when He comes that glorious day
to take us to that well-assured vacation.

There, you need never worry that your cash or time run out.
You have a free "FOREVER" reservation.
And you will find so much to be enjoyed up there.  The half
has not been told about this last vacation.

So pack the Scriptures in your heart, load up on fellowship,
and keep God's Heaven as your destination.
It shall be---if you have been saved and born again in Christ,
when we are raptured, starward, to vacation.

Starward
