i felt the light pouring in through the side windows as i retraced my steps to my bed. i saw your body laying limply spread across the cotton. your breath left your lungs so smoothly as your chest rose and fell, and i could hear the echo of your heartbeat throughout the room. i layed down next to you assuming i was finaly home.
(i was never ready for the what happened next).
when i awoke the next morning all i felt was old passion and an issue of remorse. your body had dissappeared from the bed. i checked every crevice but i never could smell your blood. maybe you realized you never loved me. maybe last night everything leaked out of your veins and soaked into my sheets. maybe you were never there at all.
all i know is that i can still sense your heart buried between my mattress.
