What They Took

Saw that I was smiling

Then turned their backs on me so cold

Now my laughter's dying

Never again will I be whole

Saw the shine in my eyes

They took the stars out the sky

Saw the hand that I was holding

Had to tell him too, "good-bye"

Wish the terror would end

Wish their reign would die

So the tears may be wiped

From these puffy swollen eyes

Because my deeds won't be honored

Never written in a book

Never told to awed listeners

Because my life is what they took

Saw the people that I laughed with

Shoved all their warmth away

Saw the life I had outside

Now here forever I will stay

Because I know they want to break me

See me lay down and die

Throw my dreams and hopes away

And my hands up to the sky

But I won't give in so easily

For my will is my way

Live for what I can

Take everything day by day

Until the terror will end

Until their reign will die

So the tears may be wiped

From these puffy swollen eyes

For my deeds deserve to be honored

Written down in every book

Told to incredibly awde listeners

About how I gained back what they took
