Haven

The sun who once warmed us,

is now far too bright.

We hide in the daytime,

emerging at night.

The darkness is our haven,

beneath the moon's reflected light.

too faint the stars and sable skies

providing canopic cover for our lies.

Your gift of expressing so much raw emotion in so few well-thought words, is more than evident here. This is truly haunting. Lauren x x

Again, with great pleasure, I applaud this Important Poet's return to postpoems. And this poem demonstrates what she is capable of. Notice the use of astronomical imagery---a lessening of the degree of light: from the sun, then the moon, then the stars; then, at the end, only the sable canopy of the night sky. I had the delightful privilege of seeing the poem in draft, and of seeing its incipient power brought to actuality by her talent.

Beautiful and a work of excellence. I am always so amazed at the poet who has mastered the ability to be concise, and really that should be the goal. I obviously have not achieved it:-) It is no easy task to say so much with a spattering of words.
