Leaving Home

This has been seen coming,
I've known this would come,
But now that's it's here,
I find myself eager,
Eager to be under way,
Yet I'm stuck here,
Waiting for the bridges,
One to be lowered,
Many to be burned,
I will leave behind,
Beloved friend,
Many memories,
My childhood,
All I have known and cared for,
Yet I don't feel connected to it,
Not to the home,
Only to the few people,
I feel no remorse,
No crushing sadness,
Soon, I will say my goodbyes,
Soon, I will burn away the taint,
Soon, I will be leaving home.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is about how I feel about having to leave my school and home. I haven't yet left, for I haven't decided upon a course of action. But for those who know me, and care for me. You will be sorely missed.....

Powerful and strong hopeful

Powerful and strong hopeful looking forward leaving behind the ashes of youth. I really enjoyed your poem and the way you strung the words together. Beautiful. Thanks SS

No Problem

I got to much time on my hands. If I can bring a bit of happiness into other people's lives, well, that's a damn good day in my book.
