An imperfect body reflects an imperfect person
Is that who you are, is that who you want to be?
Knowing you will never be whole, never be pure
Never be thin and never be pretty
Perfection takes pain, sweat and tears
Perfection takes strength, dreams and fears
Perfection takes hope, will and desire
Perfection takes time; perfection takes years
Change your dictionary from ‘I want’ to ‘I will’
Be who you want, be who you are
Never give up, keep striving for your dreams
Coz if you do, perfection won’t be far
Starve yourself, for days at a time
Ignore the comments, listen to your heart
Coz if you do, perfection and you
Will never be miles apart
People complain and say they are worried
But they just don’t know what’s right
Ignore the remarks, ignore the stares
Aim for beauty, don’t give up the fight
If you make a mistake and eat too much
It’s not too late to chuck it all up
Don’t keep it inside as it will fester and hide
And turn into fat on your beautiful stomach
Perfection takes pain, sweat and tears
Perfection takes strength, dreams and fears
Perfection takes hope, will and desire
Perfection takes time; perfection takes years
Keep the spirit burning in your eyes
Keep the energy burning deep inside
Keep thin in your mind, keep the fat away
And you will be perfect, somehow, someday.
Laura, your poem is instructive and profound, perfection, i think is equally divine.Success.
