Quite Simple

Last night found my soul restless

Contemplative and full of eagerness to understand

The gearing pattern inside another human

With gentle offerings of words

Of enjoyment and empathy

Of the calligraphy of their mind via pen

Until what was so innocent

Was plainly rejected

Without thought or due diligence

With the hastiness of a refugee to water

Hard fought and without regard of consequence

Of what it might mean to the other soul

Being utterly rejected

By the bold refusal of understanding the attempt of the other

To project hope and appreciation of perspective beyond one's own

Why do I care

What other's say, feel, or think?

The answer is quite simple

Love requires it

Of all, regardless of creed, color, or environment

Disposition, outlook, or self-entitlement
