Where'd you go my friend

I turned away and then back again

And, you went

Away from my eyes

And, then

From my very sight

It sank in

So deep, I

Couldn't fight

It no more

So, I just stood there

Touched the cushion of your chair

Just to see if any heat was left where

You sat and declared

Yourself to me

For many years

So, sweetly

And, with sincere

Words

So fitting

And, tailor made

So, I just stood there

But, now, with time, the seams unstitch

With dragging knees, the friction rips

You from me with

Unapologetic ease

Turning sweetness

Like angry bees

Into bearers of bitterness

Of when

What was ahead of us

Was nothing like what is

So, I just stand here
