Anything More (It's Not Me)

You know that my pride's been beaten

And maybe my words come out a little bruised

But it's a critical misrepresentation

A picture plastered across the nation

A heart beaten and bruised

A mind black and blue

It's not me

My own deceiving's got me believing

That I'm never blind, always lied

That I'm always right, never tried

To be anything more than me

Is to be anything more than a lie

And my words have landed like a stone

Where the price of regret begins to stick

And it's an analytcal determination

That I've bit through my hesitation

A word can stick and stone

A love can break and own

It's not me

My own deceiving's got me believing

That I'm never blind, always lied

That I'm always right, never tried

To be anything more than me

Is to be anything more than a lie

I'm pure and polluted

I'm wholly diluted and no one's disputed

The words I have said

Are now painted in red inside of my head

To be anything more than me, it's not me

My own deceiving's got me believing

That I'm never blind, always lied

That I'm always right, never tried

To be anything more than me

Is to be anything more than a lie

My own deceiving's got me believing

To be anything more than me

Is to be anything more than a lie

Author's Notes/Comments:

This could very well be the most honest thing I've ever written.
