How Quickly Dreams Die Slow

I remember blowing leaves

Last September

A rush of winter

Last October

And the rain began to freeze

Falling on you and I

Proving our attempts

Only failed tries

Of keeping us alive

We could have been honest

Broken our promise to each other

To love in spite of difference

But, would have being honest

Meant no promise at all

And, us not learning a thing

I woke up in a daze

Scared and soaked

Shivering and alone

Cold as stone

As I remembered the days

I thought lost long ago

In the history of life

But, little did I know

How quickly dreams die slow

I could have been honest

And, maybe I should have been

Completely open with you

Of how a touch of your love

Fulfills me more than any sin

And, how I’ve missed you ever since

But, little did I know

How quickly dreams die slow

How quickly dreams die slow

How quickly dreams don’t die at all
