I never did quite understand,
The pillars that inside man stand
They populate our every thought
And we remain forever caught.
We've gifted them with different names,
And fought for them in their own game.
Behind all bursts of fires within
The source they are and sit as kings.
These "values" give and take away,
They stay beside us every day
Unskakeable, unbendable, unforgettable...
Untraceable, untamable, unforgivable...
We've studied them,
We've lived by them,
We've built a world around them...
We've taught them,
We've preached for them,
Our whole life lies inside them!
Yet they're the ones that most of us
Day by day refuse to face,
Because in their sole unity,
There nests infinite secrecy...
Indeed, when these mountains collide
Man finds utopia in himself
And discovers the great divide
Between perfection and one's self.
You raise the never ending
You raise the never ending conundrum of human existence, I find a wonderful core element of your concept so appropriately placed in your very poem!!
The poem, is the "near epitome" of the statement "every answer you seek is within you".
You say in the 5th verse: "our whole life lies in them"...such truism in that line, our whole life "lies" (as in untruth) in them. We do it on a collective level, and we all do it (unconsciously or subconsciously and unconsciously) on a personal level. Getting people to admit it...an entirely near impossible task on most every level.

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."
"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
Thank You
Your words have reached inside my heart
And ignited a flame
The one known by the singing lark
So wild and untamed
I thank you from the deepest corners
Of the soul that lies within me
And will appreciate you every comment
Not matter what it choose to be
I read the article you suggested.. To be honest, it took a while for me to appreciate it but it was very interesting. Thank you very much for such a detailed and praiseful comment!
