All trains have been delayed
The station calls for passengers
Two children call for their dad
Trying to live the life he wanted
And keep the one he had
A fork stood in the line
With no hand on his back
No one made him do it
But he travelled down both tracks
Another late night working
The boys went to the bar
One life is never easy
But two took him too far
He crossed that yellow line
For the two women he betrayed
You can't share him with his family now
All trains have been delayed
The captain calls for passengers
The coroner calls out his name
He didn't point his finger
But there was no one else to blame
A heart lost in the ocean
A life lost on the tracks
Fix your hair and make-up
no one will see the cracks
Your blood ran through his veins
You loved him from the start
So you opened up your passport
And you closed up your heart
The carriages are filled with passengers
All turning over the page
But You can't move to the next station now
All trains have been delayed
Author's Notes/Comments:
A friend of who I was working with asked, if she told me her story could I write a poem about it. Of course I said I would and she began to tell me.
This is my poem based on the subject of her pain.
It might be worth mentioning that we both work at sea on cruise liners. This hopefully helps to understand the second two stanzas
