Photographs and Telescope

Moonlight paints your coffee cup and sunlight spots your dreams
You saw the beauty of a telescope but you don't know what it means.

You loved just like a camera lens you had to get it twice.
Sometimes your hand shakes and things don't turn out right.

Tea leaves tell your future and whiskey tells your past
You found comfort in the present but you know it will not last

TV tricks your memory, memory shapes your youth
Blood shot eyes and drugstores were just a fraction of the truth

Your mother was a rainbow. Your father turned her grey
They loved you like a sky lantern, they watched you fly away

You loved them like a carousel, you never strayed too far
Well this life goes round in circles, just remember who you are

The Sunlight brought a smile, but the joy has gone away
Now the night time paints your face a dark and bitter Grey

The TV turns to static, memories fall in place
Bloodshot eyes and nicotine decorate your face

Coffee stains your letter, a tale of regret
A razor occupies your fingers like a roll up cigarette

The ink dries on the paper, you've got nothing left to give
But it's photographs and telescopes that make you want to live.
