Symbols are lovely, but Love they are not

They may reflect feelings, but aren't really

worth a whole lot.



Give of yourself!,...In true word and in deed,

by giving of these you shall get what you seek.

Live life in darkness and Symbols will be

worth much more to you, than they'll ever

mean to me.



Yes, Symbols have brought me some pleasures,

but they've tarnished,

turned brown!

Some even were lost,

not to be found.

It was in the search for these Symbols

where my heart became bound,...

That the True Gifts in life never tarnish or fade,

their given unwrapped, but hold more value than jade.



The gifts I still hold are deep in my heart,

they were given by those who knew gifts are Divine Art.



The true symbols of love have brought me to Light!

They were seeds of pure love planted through action

of deed,

of a kind gentle word that helps heal a wound,

to the heart of a soul who feels forgotten by the world.



So this season I ask, if I dare be so bold

stop wrapping those gifts

and open your mouth,

just take a few moments to encourage a friend,

your neighbor, a stranger and don't forget your spouse.



These are the gifts that will last their whole life,

you'll know by the sparkle that comes to their eyes.

You'll be enriching their lives and yours just as well,

For God blessed us with power of language with which not to hurt and destroy, a gift to last beyond time, itself.
