Russia

The biggest country in the world-

You stand by far;

My homeland, the land of the tsars,

300 years have flown by-

Then came the Revolution;

I thought your whole world would fall-

But you held your ground through it all;

Through time of the Communists-

You went through it all to your own.

Then the second world war came-

All of my people from your world perish;

In the midst of war and terror-

You went through it all.

Then, 1991, the fall of all Communists-

I thought my people would be free;

But I was wrong.

For eight years your land

Was under dictators' rule-

But you held your own;

I thought you and my people were lost,

But-2002, you were freed-

You became a complete democracy.

All those years you survived-

All those years you suffered-

All those years you sacrificed-

All those years you persevered

Though all these hardships.

Author's Notes/Comments:

God, I wrote this poem because of what my home country, Russia, had to be put through during and after the reign of the tsars and communists. I still dunno though, if the part of Russia becoming a dictatorship after the Communists' power was shut off in 1991. Ah well, but anyways, I hope readers will enjoy this, as it is definitely a classic.
