LIES

Nothing lasts forever in this life;

There isn't any real truth-

Even love is a lie.

It's a lie we all accept as the truth

Without a second thought, it seems.

We embrace it and hold on with all our might

For it builds our hopes and dreams.

But hopes and dreams aren't worth a damn

When our life comes apart at the seams.

Now that I've discovered the Lie,

I can clearly see the real truth;

The truth that I have truly lost the innocence of my youth.

I'm old and calloused at heart,

Now wishing for the days gone by.

My once loving, youthful past

I now sometimes feel, without the Lie,

Each day will be my last.

Now my dreams are based on Lies

With my back against the wall;

Because even a dream that's based on a Lie,

Is better than no dream at all.
