Ashes and Freedom

Ashes to ashes

Freedom to freedom

In some circles - ashes

Represents death

Or at least the resulting end

The end of a burning cigarette

Ashes to ashes

Meaning - Ash from whence we came

Ash whereof we shall return

From the bowls of the Earth spews

Molten Lava only to rest

As volcanic ash and bedrock

Giving birth to new earth

Such was life given unto Earth

Freedom (Freedom to freedom)

Freedom - the most misunderstood

Misconceived concept - ever

To plague mankind

Often confused with free will

Freedom - sounds like

A kingdom of free thinkers

Freedom - in all truth

A concept

Freedom to bare arms

Freedom of speech

Freedom to enslave

Freedom to assassinate

Political hierarchy

So you see - freedom

An individualized conceptualization

Subject to interpretation

Freedom is choice

Subject to circumstance

A factor, which may or may not

Limit our choices - hence

Garnish our freedom

Freedom is responsibility

We are responsible for our Choices

We are responsible for our Freedom

We are responsible for our Ashes

Thought I'd drop by here because I was so diggin this piece and thought I'd tell ya again how much I love how you brought this piece full circle. I loved the many different pictures I got in my mind when reading it, all varied- I thought of lung cancer, and the death of it eventually, I thought of how ashes correlated from the cigarette to the grave, I thought of being responsible for fires, not leaving the campsite without cleaning up your litter, and checking the ashes for embers, I thought of hot lava burning everything in it's path, and I thought of the creation of life being likeunto a volcano exploding inside a woman, spewing seed, creating new life, ashes to ashes... All totally random images linked together... I loved the passage about freedom being oft confused with free will, very true... and basically I dig the whole piece, obviously.. :D
