is a Black Man's decree



The Birth Certificate said Colored

My Air Force recruiter wrote me

in as white

I settled for other

But others called me Nigger

for cause to their thoughts

my penis be bigger

I watch their television shows

their commercial TV

they chastise me to love

their women

But when acted upon this

chastisement - they charge me

with murder 1st degree

Black as i Be



But by who's standards

is a Black Man's decree



They steal my dreams

write them off as discovery

as if they were writing off

charity

Accursed my music

to be possessed by the evil

which they live and breed



Black as my soul be



What nerve have they

to deem a Black Man's decree

They give me guns

now that I've pledged not

to shoot the man

said it was Ok

to shoot my Brother

Told me, they'd make me hero

if i ate

their peanut sandwiches

give me full front page coverage

while he locks my sisters

virginity beneath his

water gate
