John McCain, a charismatic man.. with a sense of

humor.. an egalitarian who treats members of the press

corps as equals.. a brilliant man.. courageous..

willing to take on the forces of mammon..

John, we pray that God will give you grace to say

to the 4 million people of Vietnam who died from My Lai,

napalm, bombs, bullets, knives, assassinations,

being thrown out of helicopters, by the French and then

by the Americans..

All of us

are sons and daughters of Cain

all of us have failed

to recognize in other beings

our brothers and sisters



Your apology by itself

might bring rain

to Arizona..

making it agua zona

Father Mother God

rain on Arizona

and everywhere

that the cattle industry

and lumbermen

and those who do violence

have brought not rain

but drought in their train
