Ralph Nader said that the hospitals, doctors, nursing home chains, insurance companies (one of whose
executives makes 250,000 A WEEK, pharmaceuticals and HMO's give way more to politicians
than do trial lawyers, that the AMA is keeping secret the data base of bad doctors, that bad doctors
account for 5% of doctors and 50% of malpractice suits, that only 1 in 10 victims of malpractice
files a lawsuit, and that besides the 900,000 iatrogenic death and injury incidents a year
are the uncalculable incidents caused by neglect (no hospital emergency room, etc.)
