Too frightened of the persons we could be,
we chose the gathering collectively
titled "the people," all comrades who are
led---guided---and compelled by the Red Star
(despite some Party factions which are fickle).
We strike the hammer hard and swing the sickle
wide, in our labors---factory and farm;
and each of Lenin's slogans is a charm
that keeps us ever chasing his ideal
(discarding such emotions we might feel
in private), with the struggle to conceal
questions and problems much too grimly real.
The little that we are allowed to know
comes from our benefactor, Uncle Joe.
