THE LADDER
(T. Beechey)
There's a place I've heard about in story, song, and rhyme
When you're there, you'll praise and shout and it doesn't cost a dime
Up the ladder, rise by rise, until you reach the height
And see the rainbows in the skies even by the shades of night
There's a place I've heard about
In story, rhyme, and song
Once you're there, you won't want out
You'll know that you belong
Up the ladder, foot by foot
Until you reach the point
And, atop your head, is gently put
The Hand which shall anoint
There's a place I've heard about in story, song, and rhyme
You'll find golden streets all throughout and, to get there, you just climb
Up the ladder, rung by rung, until you reach the top
And hear the songs being sung without pause, without stop
There's a place I've heard about
In story, rhyme, and song
You'll never encounter pain or doubt
And, to get there, it's not long
Up the ladder, step by step
Until you reach the peak
And find the answers being kept
For only you to seek
There's a place I've heard about in story, song, and rhyme
You'll come to it by whatever route you travel in your time
Up the ladder, lift by lift, until you reach the rafter
And claim as your own the Eternal Gift of Life Ever After
