WHAT'S-HIS-NAME
(T. Beechey)
Has anyone seen ol' What's-His-Name?
Remember he came in his thing-a-ma-jig?
It was big and small and short and tall
And all of us nearly flipped our wig
When he parked along the whatchamacallit
Just sitting there plain as could be
He said back then he couldn't stay long
The song of the doo-hickey teased endlessly
Whatever became of What's-His-Name
It's not the same since he moved on
Maybe he's gone to Who-Knows-Where
And maybe there he'll something the dawn
He yearned to return to Thing-A-Ma-Bob
He had a job back there and a wife
"I fear she'll forget me," he hemmed and hawed
God,he loved Who's-Her-Face with his soul and life
I remember the night that he departed
He started sobbing like a little lost poodle
"Who will she turn to without me beside,"
Was what he replied,"my thing-a-ma-doodle?"
Whatever became of What's-His-Name
It's not the same since he moved on
Maybe he's gone to Who-Knows-Where
And maybe there he'll whatever the dawn
It's been years since What's-His-Name's
Flame burned bright along our street
I hope he told his Who's-Her-Face
That her place was a whoozit of each heartbeat
And I hope his thing-a-ma-jig's still a-rollin'
Yes,his soul and spirit shall always last
As I cast a thingy toward the sky
Why'd our hickey-ma-jig go so fast?
Whatever became of What's-His-Name
It's not the same since he moved on
Maybe he's gone to Who-Knows-Where
And maybe there he'll...you know, the dawn
