ALL HE EVER WANTED
(Dedicated to Jason Ritzert)
- T. Beechey -
All he ever wanted was a friend to call his own
And many times he hunted just to come back all alone
That's all he ever wanted, just a friend to call his own
A gift that only Heaven above could loan
For years he felt secluded, apart from all the rest
It was like he intruded as a uninvited guest
If only he could find a place where the first thing to appear
Was a gentle face to say "You're welcome here"
He searched and sought until it felt all would be in vain
Then strangers came along and dealt what seemed like sacred rain
"You can come live with us," are the words the strangers spoke
And,at once,he chose to trust these passing folk
Cause all he ever wanted was a friend to call his own
But he found his kindness blunted by words he'd never known
That's all he ever wanted, just a friend to call his own
Just to feel a part of someone else's zone
At first he felt accepted, but things began to change
Spirits of evil crept in and everything was rearranged
When he'd look into the eyes of these so-called "friends" of his
The disguise of friendship vanished with a fizz
There is no explanation cause nothing fits as yet
All there's to say is Jason is a man not to forget
Each prayer I speak, each passing thought,I dedicate to him
The candle burnt for you shall not grow dim
All he ever wanted was a friend to call his own
But each attempt was stunted, falling short of being grown
That's all he ever wanted, just a friend to call his own...
Now he stands front and center at the Throne
