THE CURTAIN OF TIME
(T. Beechey)
Nothing ever changes but the changing
We're all still the same as we were before
For it's we who've done the re-arranging
And,in time,we are bound to do some more
When the curtain of time has descended
And the sun has settled back into the sea
What began long ago has not ended
It continues evermore eternally
There's a lesson to be found in the teachings
Of a long-forgotten memory renewed
It's that the arms of the past are still reaching
And all of us,they're waiting to include
When the curtain of time has descended
And the sun has settled back into the sea
Broken fences which divided now are mended
In a way that all within can now run free
All that we are and are becoming
All that we're not and yet to be
Can be heard in the far-off distant humming
Of the muted whispers of society
When the curtain of time has descended
And the sun has settled back into the sea
What remains are the souls which befriended
All the people just like you and like me
So where do we go from tomorrow
Do we walk along a path of yesterdays
Searching for what cannot be borrowed
Yet is offered to whoever lifts the haze?
When the curtain of time has descended
And the sun has settled back into the sea
Every head that is bowed and knee bended
Shall form a pathway to their own divinity
