SOMEONE CAME
(T. Beechey)
Someone came when I wasn't looking and took all the joy I've ever shared
A barren void is all that exists of wistful memories uncompared
Someone came when I wasn't looking and took every dream I've ever had
A sad reminder is the unkind phrases and gazes of those focused on bad
What sort of thief would leaf through pleasures
Unmeasured by time,faded yet real?
Who'd steal the megic? What tragic figure
Would dig up wounds long ago healed?
Someone came when I wasn't looking and took each hope I've ever held
Just unshelled husks in dusky stains are what remains where hope once dwelled
Someone came when I wasn't looking and took the peace within my soul
Now a hole defines the lines between what is serene and beyond all control
What type of criminal imitates fate
Lying in wait,undisguised
By lies and deceit,completely exposed
Except to those with tear-filled eyes?
Someone came when I wasn't looking and took away the smiles and laughter
And there everafter,a frown resides which coincides with an unwritten chapter
Someone came when I wasn't looking and took all the love I've ever known
And only a teardrop plopped at my feet repeats the tale of love unshown
