I Am A Soldier

I AM A SOLDIER

Why am I a Soldier?

Because someone must be a soldier.  Just as

someone must be the Principal;  someone must be the

Teacher; someone must be the Janitor; someone must be

the Policeman;  someone must be the Cook; someone must

be the Student;  someone must be the Bus-driver;

someone must be Parents.  Each of us is needed, and

each of us depends on the other.

I chose to become a Soldier.  I was not forced

to become a Soldier.  Being a Soldier was what I

thought would be the best for me, for my family, and

for my Country, and for the World.  Each of us must be

Someone, and we should all try to be the best Someone

that we can be.   I was free to choose to become a

Soldier.  One soldier is just one of many who are

ready to help and to defend the Parents, the Students,

the Cooks, the Policemen, the Janitors, the Teachers,

the Bus-drivers, the Principal, and the Country.

A Soldier must be ready to fight to defend the

people who live in his Country, and everyone who lives

in the Peace in our world.   Just as your Teachers and

Principal defend you  and your stuff from bullies in

the playground or lunch-room, the Soldiers protect you

from bullies in the world who don't like you, or who

want to come and take your rights and your stuff away

from you.  As long as there are good and strong

Soldiers, the bullies of the world won't try to hurt

you or your rights, because they know that they will

not get away with it.

When the bullies in a Peaceful World start to

say, "I want your stuff", or "I don't like you, and I

want to hurt you", the Soldiers of Peace stand up and

say very loudly, "Oh, no you won't, and you'll be

sorry if you try anything sneaky to hurt the Peace of

the World."  Soldiers don't always need to fight a war

or use guns or missiles or bombs in order to keep the

World a Peaceful place for People of Peace.  But

Solders must know HOW to fight and win a war, just to

let the bullies of the World know that Peace and

Freedom are worth fighting for.   Many Soldiers have

given up their lives so that you can enjoy the Freedom

and Peace that you live in, today.

There is no-where on earth where kids and other

people are not happiest when there is Freedom and

Peace in their homes and their Country.   It is fun to

do what you want.  It is nice to respect the rights of

others, and to love them like you love yourself.  When

a Soldier goes to a far away place to make sure that

more Peace and Liberty can exist there, it is called

Sacrifice.  Wars are not nice.  We all wish that they

will never happen again,  But we all must be ready to

stand and defend our Rights, our Freedoms from all

bullies of a Peaceful World.

Today we honor all of the many Soldiers who

have died in order to protect us.  There have been

honorable Soldiers just as long as there have been

bullies.  There will always be brave Soldiers.  Maybe

you will be one, someday.  This day is when we honor

Armistice Day, also known as Decoration Day, or

Veterans Day.  Many years ago there was a war that the

World thought would end all more wars.  But it did

not.  More bullies came, and more wars were fought.

Try to remember about this Day, and that it would be

perfect Peace if there were no more wars.  But always

be ready to do what you can to stand up and say to all

bullies, "Oh, no you don't!!"
