11. Sonnet Spring Song. On "Sonnets From The Portuguese."

"The Spring Song Of The Glowing Dew Is As A Fresh Flower Fluttering For You."

I always knew I heard the faint, soft voice --

I now know that it is your fair heart's song!

Such music, soft, sweet, chorused, practised long,

seemed  flowing in from Paradise !

"Love me, for I have truly long sought you!"

Those may have been my own words, as concise

as I had been rehearsing, from youth through.

Now your soul's song says my love is your choice!

"My love, come; a strong pulse drives our heat."

I kneel and rise, assenting to your coax.

Your body's graces all descend, sweet strokes

trade enervating warmth, while pulses groan.

The rapture is transcendant, mutual, sweet,

as two hearts and two souls mount and gain Love's throne.
