Man May Dream

A man may dream a dream, &upon waking find that he was but in a dream

& nothing of the dream remains that can be found as real.  This is

FRUSTRATION

A man may dream a dream, & upon waking find that the dream

was more than just a dream, for it remains with him, causing him

to ignore his frustration, so that he goes on into his days

& into the rest of his life in pursuit of his dream.  This is

INSPIRATION

A man may dream a dream, & upon waking find that he

Was neither sleeping nor dreaming, but he has seen

what he thought could only be found in dreams.

He challenges his frustration, & applies his inspiration.  This is

IMAGINATION

A man may dream a dream, & upon waking take his dream

& his inspiration & his imagination, & go on to gain & to achieve,

& to turn the remembrance of his dream into his reality.  This is

MOTIVATION

A man may dream a dream, & when waking he may reform his ideals,

all his past efforts, any of his old plans, because his new dream

has shown him the true way to achieve & acquire

all of his fondest wishes,

all of his deepest, purest motives,

all of his dearest, sweetest ambitions. This is

ANTICIPATION

A man may dream a dream, & upon waking may approach his dream,

thinking : “This dream may be impossible; it may elude me or reject me,

but, even though it may, even though I end up with nothing, still I have tried;

but if my efforts toward my dream are successful, then I have gained

everything I have ever dreamed of”.  This is

DETERMINATION

A man may dream a dream, & when waking & approaching his dream

may find that it is not what he had so hoped that it would be, or that he is unworthy,

or that the dream is unworthy, or is not true, or the dream spurns him.  This is

REJECTION

But…a man may dream a dream, & upon waking, go into the world

seeking the true meaning with his dream, & there find another dreamer,

just like himself, who has the same dream, the same hunger,

the same need, the same goal, the same drive.  This is

HEAVEN

But…a man may dream a dream, & upon waking find himself

standing near, talking to, seeing into, feeling with the very thing

about which he had barely dared to dream.  The dream comes true.  This is

FRUITION

And… a man may dream a dream, & all through his dream

he refuses to dream in ugliness; & upon waking he finds

that all he now sees in the world is beautiful.  This is

SATISFACTION

A WOMAN MAY ALSO DREAM..........

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wondered just how many dreams I've had that died, or that came true, or were still waiting for fulfillment. After talking w a friend about the status of HER dreams, & of many others, we thought that this explanation of dream-status might be useful. I hope we are right (of course, "man" can be "woman" in any of these contexts) :

Well done, and applicable to us all.
You and your friend worked this out well.

Teddy,
This is a very unique poem, I have always been interested in dreams because so often I dream things that become reality. as did my father. sometimes they scare me but i have learned to deal with them. but dreams are so fasinating at times.
This piece is wonderful.
Thanks for sharing this.

If there are no dreams
the heart is silent to its calling.

If there are no dreams
the future holds no adventure.

If there are no dreams
the purpose of life has no true meaning.

To have a dream and not strive to achieve its meaning
is a saddness.

Wonderful work Teddy! What ever name you put to your dreams, I sincerely hope that you see them all come true!

Love,
~Lesa~

I know that I have already commented on this but in search of your Bridge Of Sighs the title caught my eye and I did a reread.

This is far to good to have only been commented on by myself and one other. I just recommened it in comment on
To Have A Dream, on my site. You will find that mine is very much like what I wrote in the comment just above. I just wanted to get the word out that this is here.

I think this is one of the best I have read of yours. Maybe perhaps some time has past since the first read and I know you better now. More than likely just because IT IS VERY GOOD!

Very thought inspiring Teddy.
