The knell tolls, mournful in its solemn surrender,
and the splendor of living meets the agony of life.
The orchids weep in reverence of their orchestrated
alliance with death,
and the willows mock them in complete and morbid silence.
Piercing through the rough cedar skin,
a nail forces a moan from my rigid body, but nothing more.
I would endure thousands just to see you flinch,
but I only need three to prove how tangible I am
and how lifeless you are.
I've never been more beautiful,
my secrets ornamented and disguised as strength,
but you'll never see me if you don't open your eyes.
Those eyes,
blanched and bewildered
like you never saw this coming.
How calm you are,
as they close the door on us one final time.
"Surely, you will be with me today in paradise."
