Ghost of the Night

Poetry

I awaken feeling weak and weary
The room is filled with a midnight dreary
Unwilling to move but a stretch and a yawn
Unfortunately it is before the brake of dawn

Alone in my room I hear a tapping on my bedroom door
I rise and open it just to only see the floor
I peered in to the hallway for safe measure
Seeing no one around fills me with a displeasure

Feelings of fear run across me like a bullet
Leaves me standing with a cold sweat
Closing the door to return to my bed
Laying down and resting my head

Before I drift off into my sleep
The tapping comes in the darkness deep
I close my eyes and feel a sharp pain in my chest
It seems the ghost of the night I could not best
