Ouroboros

I don’t quite know how to describe the way I feel.

It’s a state of confusion, and everything slides past me,

Slithers through me, and bites me, but never touches me.

Yet I seem to be in something’s gut, as a meal.

I know the course of things, left unchecked, will lead to my demise.

I wonder offhandedly if unsheathing my sword

To expose the dragon’s innards and me to the world

Would endanger the snake. Is self-preservation wise?

Humans like to place blame on people in situations,

And even if I disagree, I shall humor it still.

It is the rabbit’s fault he was considered an easy kill.

Yet some think the worm should eat vegetation.

The soft, pink glow around me is relaxing.

The warmth of blood and organs is comforting.

The bite of acids keeps me from forever sleeping.

Ahead is a tunnel identical to my old path …

No it isn’t. I think I see a speck of light!

I shout ‘eureka!’

The air bubble travels very slowly through the tunnel. How could I ever breath?

In time, the sound of flatulence resonates with the pin hole,

Which is rapidly expanding and closing, as eureka leaves the creature.

Oh. No. My demise…

One day, a little girl took her constipated pet snake to the vet and out came a full set of human bones.

The doctor started speaking, “I don’t quite know how to describe the way I feel. It’s a state of confusion…”
