Some may think they know
All there is about me and who I am.
Some just make assumptions
Because they feel they can.
They think they know all
Like who I want to be.
But truly they do not know
My true self they never see.
My dreams and wishes are in my heart
And will there forever remain.
And on the outside everyone thinks
I am so very plain.
They do not see the side I do
The side so bright and true.
Because of the person the assume I am,
I am not one but I am two.
They do not see the me
That is open to the world.
And to all the love inside of it
To find that special girl.
They do not see the poet
That loves to sit and be inspired.
They see a man in a cubicle
Afraid of getting fired.
They do not see the bird that soars
Into the shining dawn.
They see the boy that works all day
And mows the neighbor’s lawn.
They do not see the boy that sings
A melody from the heart.
They only see the boy that works
On everything from its start.
I guess the person they always see
Is me as well just not inside.
For the person that I truly am
My heart must always hide.
So do not say you know me
Or who I want to be.
For the boy you don’t deserve to meet
Is the true and wondrous me.
