For so many years ago
There was a princess that I did know
Whose beauty was pure as gold
Too bright for any one man to hold
But I dreamt, that one day that man would be me
For in my dreams, she was all I could see
Her smile was bright as the sun in June
And her voice sang in a melodic tune
But alas, I did not say a word to my love
And years later I can only dream of the dove
For I had to let her go away
And pray I would see her another day
For she, a princess, that will always be
And me, a pauper, set for eternity
