Come With Me (Part 2)

Let me take you with me..One more time,

I'm asking you to come with me- Leave your reality behind.

Get lost in rhymes- Elevate your mind,

Beautifully thought provoking- Escape your time.

Close your eyes, imagine- Opening the closet door,

3 shirts, 3 pants and 3 shorts- And half of it isn't yours.

The reality strikes, you feel poor- But wait...There's more.

You open your dresser drawers- 4 pairs of boxers and 3 pairs of socks,

3 white teeshirts that are too small- And 2 dingy tank tops.

People say you should thank God- To be fortunate to have those,

But those people are the more fortunate- They view your life with eyes half close.

The glass isn't half full- Optimism is a rare commodoity.

A troubled kid with a lost soul- Wait there's more...Continue to follow me.

You walk through life hollowly- The little things matter more,

You don't pray to have a new wardrobe, thought it's needed- You pray there could be milk in the refrigerator door.

You wish there could be cereal- And you hope to keep the heat on,

No more gas stove for heat- A new pair of shoes to keep your feet warm.

A blanket just to keep warm- Maybe some relief for your parents,

They do their best everyday- But the results arent so apparent.

The burdens you carry- Would be overwhelming for most youths,

In reality it'd crush most adults- But everyday you continue to do.

At night you still pray- Though you still question your own belief,

You're thankful to be seeing another night- But you're anxious to have relief.

Life has you beat- And the clouds overshadow the sun you see,

Through a pen onto a page my thoughts leak- So I'm asking you,

Come with me.
