Life After Death

He could think back, and only see black.

There wasn't much to live for anymore, anyway.

The love of his life had vanished from his grasp.

His life as he knew it was turned upside down.

Left to be alone, and no other way;

He could only think of their last kiss, and her last touch.

His mind fogged over, as he pulled out the small pistol.

He felt the cold steel;

Moving his fingers along the barrel,

And down the handle.

That one bullet was heavier than the gun itself,

As it weighed heavy on his conscience.

He sat calmly on the edge of insanity, letting it soak in.

The view so beautiful,

As he watched the sun set into the distant horizon.

He felt the cold moist moss under his body.

Lying naked, with nothing on him but his guilt.

He knew it was his fault.

The murder of his love,

Being his hands in control of the wheel.

The last thoughts running through his mind,

With her by his side.

The last words she screamed, as they went over.

Not but one scratch and a bruise, he walked away;

Only to turn around and see her body,

Lying lifeless on the passenger side.

All this whirring through his mind,

As he places his finger calmly on the trigger,

And takes one last look at the sunset his partner had loved so much.

Pulling the trigger, the bullet runs through his brain.

His last thought, lay un-thought of.

Before he can wish to be alive, he is dead.

His head slumps over to one side, as the sun disappears.

The only rays left, surrounding his body.

Carrying his soul to what lays after life.
