Demeter's Frown

Happiness can be found

On a cool spring day

You are easily convinced

That bliss is here to stay

The sunshine bathes the hillside

In pleasant shades of green

You are quickly filled with awe

From wonders yet unseen

The day holds such potential

You now sing for joy

But the wonderfully smiling sun

Is wonderfully coy

The rainclouds hide beyond the hills

And they will soon be here

A wind that warns of brewing storms

Brings the omen near

The sun begins to hide away

And hillsides fade to grey

You're filled with a forewarning of

The end of your bright day

The sky is quickly changing

From its shade of sapphire blue

If fades and darkens freely

To a silver all anew

The rain begins to fall and chill

Your heart's becoming cold

You feel your soul begin to freeze

The darkness is so bold

And now the winter's come

And you have never smiled

For you are ever-frozen as

A bitter spring rain child.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This started out as a happy poem but I'm just incapable of writing one.

I like your transition, of how the lines interlace to slowly bring from one emotion to the other.
