Cold stiff arms spread wide to welcome spring
Naked hands open, petals they fling
The fingers of trees, they spin the breeze
On their wake song birds float
Weaving in and out of shadowy oak
Leafy sprigs flutter and sway
Breaking the waterfall of searing day
Filtering bright into breath and fruits ripe
While down pour trickle streams
All filled with sparkle beams
Defiant reds and proud golds war with the cold
Far from once green, so lively and bold
Ever vibrant green, the color of their dreams
As they gently spiral down to blanket frosty ground
Where slumbering roots await the return of grand leafy crown
