Butterfly

Butterfly

By JFarrell

The thorax is two inches long,

Black, but with little white stripes,

Looks like a bee;

The round head is crowned

By it’s two antennae,

Alien senses.

The wings twice as wide,

As the thorax is long;

Almost symmetrical,

But not quite.

Blue,

Like the sky on a bright, sunny, cloudless day.

Each corner has a spot,

Lipstick pink.

The most beautiful butterfly,

I have ever seen;

It takes my breath away,

It makes me feel anointed by the gods.

“Where did you see such a wonder?” you may ask.

I can not answer that question,

But, my lover might.
