Beneath these distant, twinkling sparks
Is a child staring
Lips parted in wonder
The sky whispers through a smile
She listens and nods
A carpet of star-dusted ink
Fingers of grass tickle her ears
A twilighted house
One window glows with soft sulfur
The night sky lifts her up
And teases her with a touch of infinity
"Climb into me," it asks
"just for a little while."
A laugh, a wistful shake of her head
God sighs
"Someday then."
She nods, folds one knee across the other
Perches her head on x'ed elbows
And finds herself
Brushing her thoughts
In the currents
Of the night sky
very vivid like i'm right there in thought as you were writing this piece. beautifully worded, i like it!
