"Grandpa"

Away he went one still night,

without a warning, or goodbye.

God called his name, beside him he stood,

"it is your time my dear",

come hold my hand,

and into the light, and peaceful night

they went hand in hand.

Though his body layed there lifeless,

and we all were shocked, and crying,

grandpas soul had finally found peace.

Once leaving his room,

to the end of the light they walked,

where a beautiful white horse awaited.

"Don't be afraid,

for this is only the beginning", god said,

but grandpa wasn't scared,

instead he smiled,

then away the white horse fled.

He had these beautiful wings

that spread out wide,

and grandpa laughed in delight

for he had never seen such beauty.

The breeze he felt as they flew,

the stars, and the moon they passed too.

Not long after,

on a beautiful cloud they landed,

where other white horses stood,

and standing by them was another soul.

"Now this is your horse,

use him when you want to fly down to earth,

and visit all you loved,to let them know

that you are still around, and doing just fine.

With that said, grandpa came upon

these huge gates gaurded by angels,

and in they all welcomed him,

hugs, and peace settling in.

Once through the gates,

grandpa noticed something different.

He was now handsomely dressed in white,

and on his back white wings stood.

So you see we shouldn't be crying,

for that only makes grandpa sad,

this whole time we have been greiving,

he has been by us all.

Next time you feel a breeze,

or just a sense of peace,

know that grandpa has just passed by you

on that beautiful white horse.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this awhile after my grandpa died, for my family, and I. I did it so we could try, and get a different perspective of my grandpas death on the night of dec.16 2002. Rather then the confuesed, sad, and angry view we had for the longest, and even I still have at times. This actually made me feel better, and makes me smile each time I read it. I feel like my grandpa is still around doing fine, and truly is an angel.
