The New Logic

Back in the spring of 1978, I took a course from my college's Philosophy department in proposition logic.  I took this under compulsion to satisfy a requirement for obtaining my degree.  We used symbols like p and q; and learned rules like DeMorgan's law; and learned sophisticated sounding terms like instantiation.

Because I did not pursue the next section of the course, which was elective and not compulsory, I probably demolished my ability to understand today's political logic, which I will illustrate here.

If the election results favor my candidacy, the election process was legitimate and unflawed.

If the election results favor my opponent's candidacy, the election process was illegitimate and flawed.

I have no idea how this would be diagrammed in propositional logic, nor do I have even the least comprehension as to how these two statements seem to exist together---in that version of the Universe that Trump and the Magas would have us believe.

Here is another one that seems to arise from the Januar 6, 2021 insurrection; or, to put it most honestly, attempted coup.

We will best protect and defend our rights by attacking that which most efficiently provides those rights---the democracy that governs this republic under the Federal Constitution.

Somebody please explain how these emboldened statement can be considered logical.  My small ability from Logic 101 in the spring of 1978 is just not up to it.
