Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.
At least one Orthodox theologian some of whose words I have read recently, believes the Jesus prayer is the most powerful prayer of all the prayers we pray.
I have slighly altered the version I pray: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, the sinner.
The prayer locates the Center of the Cosmos, Christ, by whom all things consist---to use Apostle Paul's words. It also locates a far point on the circumference of that cosmos---me. And yet, God is the Lover of humanity---according to Orthodox theology and the Divine Liturgy. Therefore, He loves me, too, despite my flaws, and sent His Son to die for those flaws.
I can speak only for myself; for no one else.
