Yet [*/+/^] : 27.225 MHz, Some Final Measures; One Fairly Pleasant Spring Day

[after John 11:53]

Brethren, you need no longer wring your hands.

I have the answer your question demands---

of thos whole issue, we must rid our land's

length, breadth, and width before the wrath of Rome

drives us from our profession and our home.

I think the necessary strategy

that we must implement is obvious

That Jesus must be seized, with Lazarus,

and sent as malefactors to their crosses.

Then we, the righteous, can write off our losses,

keeping the good will of the Roman bosses,

meanwhile preserving our integrity---

not tarnished and not in the least diminished

after this nasty business has been finished.

Author's Notes/Comments:

The last line is an allusion, by contrast, to Jesus' triumphant declaration, from the cross, in John 19:30.

I attempted to colloquialize the poem to sound like business or corporate language, for reasons that, I hope, are obvious.
