+ 2ND POEMS: Poem To David, Once A Barefoot Shepherd Boy **

You remind me---you, who so fervently loved Jonathan---

that your great descendent, Who is also God's Son,

Who reigns forever on His Throne in Starlit Heaven above---

does not look askance at any form of true and ardent Love.

Author's Notes/Comments:

**  The title was inspired by Henry Ryland's painting, David Tending His Sheep, which was in a children's Bible given me by my maternal grandmother when I was about three.  I have very clear memories of staring at it, especially on Sunday mornings (when my parents slept late, as they were not active in any church at that time); and it established for me a definition of beauty which remains with me to this day.

The poem alludes to 2nd Samuel 1:26, Mattthew 22:45 and Psalm 110, Hebrews 4:16 and Revelation 22:16.
